Homework Policy

Students are expected to complete homework.  They will bring home a homework folder every night.  Please check the folder for homework and sign your child’s homework log every night.  One side of the folder will have homework to be completed and the other side will have papers to be kept at home.  The folder needs to come to school every day.  The back of the folder contains sight words for first grade and a number grid that will be helpful for math homework in the future.

Birthday Celebration Policies

If you plan on celebrating your child's birthday in school, please let me know at least 1 week in advance.  Birthday celebrations can only take place on Fridays at 2 p.m.  No outside adults can attend and you must bring all items to the main office in the morning.  A staff member will make sure the items get to our class.  Cupcakes, munchkins, or donuts and a small juice is allowed for each student.  Due to food allergies please avoid foods that contain peanuts or tree nuts.

 Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

School begins promptly at 8:25 a.m.  Please have your child in school and on time everyday. Students will be marked late if they arrive in class after 8:35 a.m.  Please note that breakfast is not served in the classroom.  Breakfast is served in the cafeteria beginning at 8:00 a.m. This will give the students plenty of time to eat before the bell rings at 8:25 a.m.  Please have your child come to breakfast before 8:25.

Dismissal is at 2:55 p.m. in the playground by our room number.

Attendance

Students should be in school everyday.  If your child is absent, please send a note explaining the absence or bring in a doctor's note.  If you can, call the school or e-mail me about the reason your child is out.
